3 Strategies to Achieve More Daily

John C. Maxwell said “The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.” It means there must be some things to do daily to achieve more results in less time. To maximize your opportunities in life and especially the workplace, practice these three (3) things daily:

1. Have A Specific Major Goal in View. One of the reasons people do not live happy and fulfilling lives is because they have not learnt to set a major definite goal for their lives. They allow circumstances and people around them to determine what they do per time. After drifting through life year-in-year-out, they become faced with the stark reality as their lives are torn wide apart – the centre no longer holding, because it never really existed. Look into forty years from now; what major things would you love to have in your life to be truly happy with yourself? What exactly do you really want? When? Where? Why? Decision is the only antidote to future frustration.

2. Set Daily Performance Targets. Before you retire to bed each night, think through your day. What exactly have you achieved today? If you keep spending your days like this, where will you be five, ten, twenty years from now? Are you sure you will end in the destination you defined earlier on. You must decide to do something daily to make you focused on the destination ahead of you, no matter how little.

3. Keep Getting Better. Malcolm Gladwell wrote in his book, Outliers, a principle he termed the 10,000 Hour Rule. He said for anyone to be a world class in whatever he does, he must have worked at it with the aim of getting better for at least 10,000 Hours. You can never really enjoy the joy of achievement if you’re not better today than you were yesterday. You’d soon get bored and eventually discard your major goal. Like many people, you will begin to think, It ain’t working!

If you do these three (3) things daily, I can assure you that you will be getting more productive than the average drifter out there. You will be looking forward to the breaking of the day; you will be feeling more alive, ablaze and aglow; and this positive energy will soon rub off on people in your organization. Your superiors will notice it and may recommend you for greater opportunities and responsibilities.
